Location of the Cuchipuy archaeological site, ca. 8 km east of San Vicente de Tagua Tagua. where there is the larger site of Tagua Tagua. |

At Cuchipuy one of the oldest cemeteries in South America was discovered in 1976 and excavated after 1978. The remains of around 100 people were interred there, on four levels. The first burials date to around 8,000 years ago. |

With the dead, a whole range of sophisticated tools were buried. |
