The Museum was built in 1859-1865 and with its 150,000 objects is the second largest ethnological museum in Germany. It has collections from most countries outside Europe.
The Museum holds an Andamanese collection of approx. 100 items, collected by Messrs Ehlers and Hamlyn.
No list of Andamanese items held by the Munich Museum of Etnology is available.
